Vulcan Imaging Associates welcomes new CEO

Aug 10, 2018

BIRMINGHAM – Eric Blackman took the helm as Vulcan Imaging Associates (VIA) new CEO recently, and he plans on continuing the momentum the team has been building over the past few years. “We’re focusing on strategic growth,” says Blackman. “We’re not just growing to grow. We’re partnering with quality people and organizations to deliver what we believe is the best patient care.” Noting the debate about the future of healthcare, Blackman says Vulcan Imaging has put itself in a very strong position to be flexible to any changes that may come, and that attracted him to the company. “Our primary focus is existing business and the highest quality healthcare service at our existing sites,” says Blackman. “But we’re also building relationships with new organizations and clinics to offer patients the best care possible in the future, not just in our community. We’re thinking broadly.”

Blackman points to Intelerad, VIA’s Picture Archiving and Computer System (PACS), as one of their greatest tools and a means of raising the bar for better patient care. “This cutting-edge computer system with proprietary software and options allows our group excellent communication with all our partners, referring doctors, and even patients,” says Blackman. “It offers both patients and referring doctors immediate access to imaging results, eliminating unnecessary delays in the healthcare chain of service.”

“We’re thrilled to have Eric join us,” says Vulcan partner Dr. Jonathan Walter. “He brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to our practice, helping VIA to elevate patient care to an even higher level.” Blackman comes to VIA from LaGrange, Ga. However, began his career in Mobile after graduating from the University of Alabama. “I’m glad to be back in Alabama,” says Blackman. “It’s home.” Blackman and his wife now live in the Birmingham area with their four children.
